PowerDVD users beware: North Korea-backed hackers target CyberLink users in supply-chain attack

I was surprised, though should not be, when I thought I was having playback issues with PDVD that I got a message saying I had already installed it too many times. First a while back they made me jump through hoops to download the installer, and now saying I can not install it any more.
What exactly did I pay for? In my mind I purchased a lifetime copy per the ad at the time.
