ONKYO DV-SP504/B

UNIVERSAL DVD PLAYER

Plays DVD-Audio and Video, DVD-R/RWs, DVD+R/RWs, Super Audio CDs, MP3-Encoded CDs, WMA-Encoded CDs, CD-R/RWs, Video CDs, Audio CDs / HDMI AV Out

On the back of its award-winning predecessors, the DV-SP504 universal DVD/CD player stands out as a versatile player well-positioned for the emergence of High-Definition entertainment. It’s the inclusion of the HDMI Interface that makes the DV-SP504 a superb choice for delivering movies, high-resolution music, and more recent formats like HD JPEG (for Megapixel images with enhanced resolution). Onkyo technology comes into play with Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) and Direct Digital Path to protect Audio signals from the single most destructive elements to quality movies and music—pulse noise and noise emanating from a player’s internal components.
# DTS and Dolby Digital Decoders Built-in
# Plays DVD-Audio and Video, DVD-R/RWs, DVD+R/RWs, Super Audio CDs, MP3-Encoded CDs, WMA-Encoded CDs, CD-R/RWs, Video CDs, Audio CDs, and JPEG- and HD JPEG-Encoded CDs
# Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) for Pure Signal Processing - Data is converted between the sampling points, and these Discrete sampling points are joined with Analog vectors in Real-time to produce a smooth Output wave form. This ensures that the DV-SP504’s disc drive emits the cleanest possible signal from DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD, PCM audio CDs and MP3-/WMAencoded discs
# HDMI Output for Video and Audio - HDMI on the DV-SP504’s rear can output uncompressed video—480p, 720p and 1080i—to a compatible display. You can pass video directly to an HDMI-enabled HDTV or pass multichannel audio to your AV receiver, including Dolby Digital and DTS signals
# DivX Video Playable
# HD Conversion to 720p and 1080i
# 192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DAC / 108 MHz/14-Bit Video DAC

I don't know a lot about this one. The previous Onkyo player, the DV-SP502, was a clone of the Pioneer DV-588A. I own the DV-588A and think it is a nice player. I would bet this player is a clone of a current Pioneer universal player. Here is the official AVSForum thread on the player and nobody there owns it as far as I can tell.

Based on the price and the specifications you show, I would suggest the Oppo DV-980H is a much better player at a much better price. Amazon.com has some reviews including praise and complaints.

Yes!

I bought this and it works excellent!

Much better than the Denon 757, and it sounds amazing!

Finally, a proper DVD-A/SACD player.
