Sad to see that Wilko Johnson the ex-lead guitarist of Dr. Feelgood has died at the age of 75. He survived cancer when a surgeon who was a Feelgood's fan said he could save him. Wilko's guitar stytle was amazing, I often looked for the 2nd guitarist! I saw Dr. Feelgood in their hey-day in the 70s, great live band so much energy, and I've seen Wilko Johnson and his band loads of times, last time at the Beautiful Days Festival in 2015. He also played the mute Executioner in Game Of Thrones. RIP Wilko

Wilko's passing got me thinking about connections and how you're often only a few links away from somebody well known.

In my days of 'messing about' with bands I first got to see the Feelgoods at the Rock Garden (I think it was called) in London's Covent Garden due to a friend who worked in United Artists A&R Dept. she got a few of us on the guest list. Many moons later when I was doing my PhD I was talking the Bursar of the college about music and he said his good friend was Wilko, and that they were tutorial partners on their English Degree, Bryan Ferry was in the year above them!

RIP Wilko :(

Totally concur - this is a fantastic boxset for the Feelgood uninitiated like me. The band cracks like a whip and Wilko’s guitar work is uniquely exemplary. The set includes a DVD with some superlative live performances so you can see what young Duncan was fortunate enough to witness when he and the band were both in their prime!

RIP, Wilko!
