This past week I received my door prize so graciously supplied by Alexander J. It was Acoustic Reality Experience WAGNER: OVERTURES & PRELUDES and I enjoyed it Immensely, especially selections from Tannhauser and The Walkure. The Robert Schumann Philharmonic Phemnitz under the baton of Oleg Paetani was in fine form, captured beautifully in 7.1, which is how I listened to it.
I know that classical isn't talked about too much on the forum, but I've been gobbling up the LIVING STEREO and MERCURY LIVING PRESENCE three channel recordings and it's wonderful to hear a modern recording that gets string tone right. That sounds like a crazy comment, but it is amazing how often strings have been trashed. Here, they are well served. Bravo to Alexander, and with Blu-Ray sales soaring, may he rise with the tide. Thank You.
Dwight
