OK, so this Canadian seller sells 'em cheap (only problem is S&H) and I got an instant Cheap Trick collection : ST, In Color, Heaven Tonight, Budokan(repeat) and All shook up(also repeat)-all Canadian pressings-most better than US ones- for only $12 in VG++ condition...
Last night I was spinning the ST and "In color" (to me the REAL first LP) and BOTH were very acctive in the rears, excellent!

DPLII Settings MS+96K
Dimension=On
Panorama=+1

Has anyone else noticed that DPLII is much better than DPL IIx.

IIx just sounds like a run of the mill 5.1 live mix with some ambience and a little bit of instrumentation in the rears. but with DPL II you get much better sounding quad feel. I tried this with RPWL "God has Failed", and I'd never listen to IIx again.

I feel like Dolby went backwards. But I guess they accomplished what they were trying to do--a sort of conventional way of converting to 5.1.

I'm certainly not going to make it a priority to get a receiver just because it has IIx capabilities.
