Joni Mitchell - Hissing Of Summer Lawns question

I have the CD-4 and the Q8 of this album but I can't get them to sound the same. For instance, during "The Jungle Line" the little synth line that is between the verses has the high synth part in the rear and the low in the front only. Listening to the CD-4, the high synth seems to be mostly in the back but the low synth seems to be centered between rear and front. No matter where I have the separation set and the carrier level it doesn't change much. I don't have a setup record for the CD-4 yet so I was trying to earball it . Is the mix the same on both or am I trying to acheive something impossible.
