Hello,
I am Building a 7.1.4 System in a small (4x3m) room for gaming and can currently get either two Polk ES35C center speaker or a pair of kef q150 for the same price since the ES35C are 40 percent discounted for Black Friday. I would use them as FL/FR. The ES35C would be vertically mounted which should reduce the directivity issues of the MLM design. I don’t need much output nor bass (using a subwoofer). I rather care about soundstage and imaging for gaming. Other speakers are a mix of ES10 and one pair of kef q150. What should I rather get?

I appreciate any replies

I don't have experience with either of the models you are considering. I will say though that if your primary concern is accurate imaging, it's hard to beat a coaxial design like a Kef.
