Seal (Deluxe Edition) unveils ten previously unreleased recordings, offering alternate versions of album tracks like “Newborn Friend” and “Don’t Cry,” as well as a haunting take on “Dreaming In Metaphors” that features Seal alone at the piano. The Deluxe Edition collects additional gems from that era, including the B-side “Blues In E,” a cover of Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle” from the Space Jam soundtrack, and a version of “Manic Depression” that Seal recorded with guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck for Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix. The Blu-ray will feature exclusive Dolby Atmos and PCM 24/96 High Resolution Stereo mixes of the album

The Atmos Mix engineer is Alex McArthur, although he didn’t do ‘Kiss From A Rose’, which was done by Trevor Horn’s engineer Tim Weidner. This suggests that ‘Kiss…’ had already been done as a standalone, at an earlier date, for streaming.

Glad to see an Atmos on a physical disc; as for the 'previously unreleased recordings', I have a stack of Seal CD singles that begs to differ.

Years ago, I mistakenly bought the 5.1 of this album thinking that it was the best of Seal. I bought the real Best Of Seal DVD-A and sold this one. That turned out to be a good thing because now I can buy this new Atmos version of Seal with a clear conscience. LOL

If Kiss From A Rose was the only song on this album, I'd still have to buy it. It seems that I have an incredible weakness for waltzes in 6/8 time.

It's a shame this release is not the first two albums...

Anyway, sadly it's yet another product that contains stereo CD's that I'm not interested in owning... Indeed, everything that's on the two CD's could easily have fitted on the Blu-ray audio disc. What a waste of plastic!

I prefer CD/Blu-ray packages. I still listen to CDs at home and in the car, and CDs are a dawdle to rip and add to my stereo library as compared to any other optical media. I'm curious how many feel the same. In fact, I'm going to start a poll right now to see where majority site opinion lies on this.

It would appear this new release does not include the 5.1 mix from the DVD-A, which is unfortunate.
