Thanks, I found it listed on Discogs, it is weird but funny! Mind you the Genre is listed as Electronic, Pop, Children's, but with its track listing I'm doubting the last genre!

fishhead.jpg

It's kind of a 7" AND 12". The grooves are like a 7", but the entire record is the size of a 12" EP, sort of. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/bli...-the-coolest-and-most-creative-vi-t48309.html

Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club (her second lp attempt...the first one was cancelled)
Stevie Wright - Hard Road (virtually an easybeats album)
Suzanne Vega
The B-52's
thats enough for one day

ok here's part 2...... it took a while to put those others up...but since I've made it to the "t" section of my collection..it shouldn't take too long...i think.....

The Band - Music From Big Pink
(on reflection I prefer the follow up,self titled effort, but this lp has "the weight" on it)
The Big 3
( the american folk group with Mama Cass...not everyone's cup of tea but great recording quality and when you play "the banjo song" you instantly think of "Venus" by "Shocking blue" ....which came out about 7 years later)

The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band - Wangaratta Wahine
(The australian EMI vinyl of this is fantastic..and the follow up "smoke dreams" was released in quad in the USA)

The Cars

The Dingoes

The Divinyls - Desperate

The Doobie Brothers
(and then years later they release their 1970 demo tape "Introducing The Doobie Brothers"...and it's just as good...and full of songs they didn't use anywhere else.)

The Doors

The Gipsy Kings - Allegria (best version of Djobi, Djoba)

The Hollies - Stay With The Hollies
(not as good as The Beatles but their version of "Mr Moonlight" on this lp is sure better than the beatles' version)

The Jam - In The City

The Kill Devil Hills - Heathen Songs

The Kinks - Kinks (You Really Got Me)

The Loved Ones - The Loved Ones' Magic Box
(ASTOR vinyl only DO NOT get the cd/LP re issues they all suck for different reasons)

The Lovin' Spoonful - Do You Believe In Magic

The Master's Apprentices (ok it's a rather patchy lp but it's got "undecided" on it)

The Monkees (well I was five years old at the time)

The Pretenders - Pretenders (it's sad half the original band died after the second lp)

The Rolling Stones

The Twilights

The Who - My Generation
(sounds better in the true stereo remix and best if you can find the vinyl of that as the true stereo cd has digital brick wall compression)

The Young Rascals
The Turtles - It Ain't Me Babe

The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

Alison Moyet - Alf

UB40 - Signing Off
(you may only know UB40 from their boring, smaltzy, please turn this crap off, middle of the road singles but this is as far removed from that as Stevie Wonder's "Talking book" is from the "Soundtrack to the Woman in Red"... a nice debut that turned out to be completely unsustainable for the group in any trace or form)

and last but not least my favourite lp of last year...

The Teskey Brothers - Half Mile Harvest

(available from their website.. they dont sound like a group from Warrandyte thats a few miles from my house in Melbourne...they sound like they're from Muscle Shoals !! check out the lead vocals on the first track "Crying Shame"...recorded in their Warrandyte house on a studer 24 track analogue)

Three favourites which I haven’t seen mentioned (read fast so I might have missed out):

Bad Company - s/t (Give me in 5.1!)

What a great sounding record and there is only one Paul Rodgers.

Stone Roses - s/t (this would also be a treat in surround!)

Liam Gallagher can talk about how much Beatles and Sex Pistols inspired him, but the confident Ian Brown is definitely more visible in Liam than any other artist. These are great, colorful tunes.

ABC - Lexicon of Love (my most wanted 5.1-mix!)

Funk it up with Trevor Horn, fantastic arrangements, witty lyrics, great punchy sound and a very sophisticated sound considering their young age. They didn’t become better than this!

Here's a (possibly) contentious one: Iron Maiden's eponymous debut. It captured the feel of the times perfectly; a fusion of heavy metal delivered with a visceral punk edge, thanks to Di'Anno's exceptional vocal performances. The contentious bit is that I still don't think they've bettered it!

I agree, and what a year 1980 was for rock albums - especially for me as an impressionable 13 year old! Debuts from Maiden, Def Leppard, Michael Schenker, Girlschool, Ozzy Osbourne....alongside albums from established acts - Sabbath’s Heaven And Hell, AC/DC’s Back in Black, Gillan with Glory Road, Motorhead’s Ace of Spades, Priest’s British Steel, Rush’s Permanent Waves, and many more... Great times!

It is a wonderful debut, I bought the LP when it was first released and I thought I'd found gold. Yes, Di'Anno was a great vocalist on that album....I agree.

I remember very well when I purchased Queensryche debut EP in 1983. I was simply astounded by the raw power and sound...and oh that voice. :)

Like many here, I love hundreds of groups and as many solo artists but there are debut albums which I've played to death and which are now part of my DNA.

I agree with ChristopherLees and GOS about Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz.

Are are some of my faves, which I still listen to this day.

Autograph! Yeah, I remember loving that one......

The first time I heard Turn Up The Radio, I was hooked. The whole album is filled with amazing melodies. I'd describe the music as Hard Pop and not Hard Rock. This is a band I would have loved to see in those days but they never came to Montreal.
