I was just thinking that one of my ultimate fantasy quad/5.1 mixes would be this:

Jpsinsin.jpg

Sin After Sin would be great, but I think Sad Wings of Destiny would be even better.

Yes, Sad Wings of Destiny would be fun as well. I always lean towards liking Sin After Sin a bit more. I think Priest had polished the sound a lot more than Sad Wings as well. Stereo effects are utilized heavily with Sin After Sin. I think those stereo effects would translate well to quad. Sin After Sin is a very Stereo-ey album

Please can I add:

Camel - Moonmadness,
Camel - Mirage,
Caravan - For girls who grow plump in the night,
Caravan - In the Land of the Grey and Pink,
Everything by Pink Floyd that hasn't already been released as quad,
Gong - Flying Teapot & the other Radio Gnome triology albums,
Gong - Magick Brother,
Gong - Shamal,
Fela Kuti - Black President,
Fela Kuti, Ginger Baker & Africa 70 - Live!
Celtica - Luminous - perhaps in Ambisonic to get that 3d sound,
Wishbone Ash - Argus,
Wishbone Ash - Pilgrimage,
Warren Zevon - "Werewolves of London"/"Roland the headless Thompson gunner" (double-ish a side) single or
Warren Zevon - the whole Excitable Boy album,
the entire Bonzo's back catalogue - especially Gorilla, Urban Spaceman and Tadpoles,

Too many more, really.

No pressure. SQ would be nice - perhaps then that will make up my mind about getting that cool Surround Master decoder. :)

It is possible that Tubular Bells might just tip me over the edge in any case ... (for the Involve Audio decoder). Just wanted to add:

Prodigy - Fat of the Land :- having Keith bounce up behind you would be worrying but brilliant.:yikes

asmith,

Caravan - In the land of Grey and Pink Deluxe Edition contains a 5.1 mix done by Steven Wilson, it's out about 2 years now.

So many to pick from! It's nice to see someone else above me with similar tastes!

Some or all of Year of the Cat was mixed by Alan Parsons, but remains in the can. I've heard the title track and the mix is exquisite.

Only two Al Stewart tracks were surround-mixed by Alan Parsons before American Gramophone went under: Year of the Cat and Time Passages. I heard both in 2006, courtesy of a well-known QQ member. Yes, both are exquisite.

Perfect list :)

Some studio ELO in 5.1 is not beyond the absolute realms of possibility, iirc Elliot Scheiner remixed an ELO concert for DVD into 5.1 with a pretty aggressive surround mix (don't ask me what it is now I can't remember!)

The Zoom DVD is astonishing. Talk about a band that was great to begin with (bam!!), came back with an amazing album (bam!!), then put out a phenomenal DVD concert video (bam!!). And furthermore, a band that deserves 5.1 treatment on their albums from the start...Electric Light (F@king) Orchestra. Jeff Lynne is a modern day genius. And, for the record, his hair is still awesome in the Zoom DVD video!

My list would be everything I like not already done by ES & SW....they would be cloned and remix my entire collection, with priority going to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Chicago, Boston, Jimmy Buffet, Garth Brooks, Grateful Dead, Eagles, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Kansas, Kiss, Motley Crue, Night Ranger, Pearl Jam, Prince, Queen, REM, Rolling Stones, Billy Squier, Tesla, U2, Whitesnake, Barry White, ZZ Top, Van Halen, and most other 80s hair bands that I liked.

Fantasy list?

Prince Purple Rain
Prince Sign of the Times
Black Sabbath self titled
Black Sabbath Paranoid
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell
Black Sabbath Mob Rules
Kamelot Black Halo
Marilyn Manson Holy Wood and Mechanical Animals
Led Zeppelin IV, HOTH and PG
Dio Holy Diver
Rush(to be redone) 2112 and Moving Pictures!
Metallica RTL, MOP, And justice for all
FRank Zappa Overnite, One size, Joe's Garage, Sheik and You are what you Iz
