I have a "c" drive, but how do I create the path on the computer to make the script work. Also, does this script work with files that are 44.1 kHz as well as 96 kHz? Thanks in advance for any help.

From the SQ notes:

Install the Script:
-------------------
(a) Copy it (SQdecoding_8_AK.scp) into
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Audition 2.0\Scripts

NOTE: Attached script assumes that your files will be living on I:\SQ Data\

Prepare the file for the script:
--------------------------------

(b) Start Audition, and open the WAV file to convert

(c) Edit menu < Convert Sample Type < 32 bits
Note: In case the source already is 24 or 32 bits, leave out this step.

(d) Effects menu < Amplitude < Amplify/Fade -> -3dB Cut

Save this 3 times:
------------------
(e) Save As : I:\SQ Data\front.wav
(f) Save As : I:\SQ Data\rear.wav
(g) Save As : I:\SQ Data\temp.wav
Now close all open files.
Note: You can interrupt the process at this point, if you have to do something else. I.e. can exit & re-start Audition, and continue with the next step (h).

Run the script:
---------------

(h) Options menu < Scripts < Open/New Colleaction ->
make it point to "SQdecoding_8_AK.scp"

(i) Run the script (its called "_ SQ_enc_I:\SQ Data\ v2.0" )

After done, you'll see three files in Audition:
- temp.wav -> can close w/o saving; can even delete this file afterwards
- front.wav -> this IS the SQ-decoded Fronts -> SAVE (can use another name)
- rear.wav -> this IS the SQ-decoded Rears -> SAVE (can use another name)

IMPORTANT Notes:
----------------
!- To run the script on a full-CD will easily take 6-8 hours, which includes heavy CPU load. It's best to start a full-CD conversion before you go to sleep. Next morning, it will be finished (except that you have to save the front and rear wav).
!- To run the script on a 5 minute track will take about 30+ minutes.
!- Audition uses LARGE temp files. Under Audition's Preferences, make sure for the TEMP Working Directory that:
(i) It possibly is on ANOTHER physical disc drive (otherwise your drive might swap itself to heaven ;-)
(ii) This disc drive has AT LEAST 10 GB free disc space
(iii) This disc drive was recently DEFRAGMENTED

Please let me know if things go wrong somewhere or are not clear, so that I can help to fix things.

That looks like the version that was written for me.
The I drive is the dead giveaway.
Simply create a folder on your C drive called SQ Data.
Point the script to this by editing the I\SQ Data reference to C\SQ Data
Job done.

Thanks Neil for the infomation. The script I'm trying to use comes from post #147 at:

PC Based SQ DECODING - ALMOST DONE!
https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showpost.php?p=46256&postcount=147

I was able to change the script to C:\SQ Data\. I notice the script is set for 96 kHz. If I want to create a script for 44.1 kHz I change line:

Selected: 0 to 518400000 SR 96000
To:
Selected: 0 to 518400000 SR 44100

If this is incorrect please let me know. Thanks.

Not at all sure as I did not write the script.
I would seriously recommend NOT changing this, as the increased resolution from a 24/96 source to 24/96 Files is well worth the effort.
You should run the SRC as the final process on the recovered discrete files.

Guys,
Although this wont work with a drive that already exists (such as the C: drive) you can temporaryl map a drive to another one very quickly. If you take the script with the I: in it you can run it by starting a cmd session (start->run type cmd) and at the prompt type subst i: c:\ this "creates" an I: drive letter that points to C:.
It lasts for as long as the PC it booted, so do it before starting Audition and away you go.
I've not looked at the file format for the adobe scripts but it will be possible to patch the file to point at another drive.
I might have to do this on my new (well rebuilt) machine as I have an external 500gb drive which I'll use for decodes rather than the c: drive.
If anyone wants to know how to do it just reply here.

I don't know, I deleted this part of the script because I think it would select a part of the wave file to work (i.e. 30 minutes) and not the entire sample.
Right?

I followed Neil's advice to change drive "I" to "C." Then I changed line:

Selected: 0 to 518400000 SR 96000
To:
Selected: 0 to 518400000 SR 44100

The changed script seems to work. I'm still working with DTS-CD just to quickly learn AA 2.0 - since material is already recorded onto SQ Audio CDs. I've applied the script to album sides under 30 minutes, as well as a whole album 47 minutes long. I should acquire DVD-A authoring tools shortly. I know it's a waste of time otherwise. Please let me know if you have any additional information.

You should run the SRC as the final process on the recovered discrete files.

What does SRC refer to? Thanks.

Hello
I downloaded the AK8 zipped script and unzipped it, but it looks nothing like the text in posts elsewhere. Below is a capture of one of the first command blocks.

Line 1 is lots of As, and line 2 is blank.
In addition, above this command, the "sy" with dots is missing.
Can the .zip file be translated to .txt? so that no decoding is needed?
Maybe my unzip utility is doing strange things to the file...

Copy the following to a txt file. After saving it rename the .txt to .scp

Then copy that file into the script folder for Audition 2.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah... change the E:\Who\ directory to the directory on your computer.

Maybe my unzip utility is doing strange things to the file...

Have you tried using it yet, I've got the same thing.

Please note I was able to change drive "I" to "C." The instructions that came with it are at the bottom. Also please not the script is undergoing a few tweaks and there will be a newer one. But this works well and has been used a lot. Many thanks to all the Script writers! It should look like this:

Do Not copy this copy the script above

(a) Copy it (SQdecoding_8_AK.scp) into
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Audition 2.0\Scripts

NOTE: Attached script assumes that your files will be living on I:\SQ Data\

Prepare the file for the script:
--------------------------------

(b) Start Audition, and open the WAV file to convert

(c) Edit menu < Convert Sample Type < 32 bits
Note: In case the source already is 24 or 32 bits, leave out this step.

(d) Effects menu < Amplitude < Amplify/Fade -> -3dB Cut

Save this 3 times:
------------------
(e) Save As : I:\SQ Data\front.wav
(f) Save As : I:\SQ Data\rear.wav
(g) Save As : I:\SQ Data\temp.wav
Now close all open files.
Note: You can interrupt the process at this point, if you have to do something else. I.e. can exit & re-start Audition, and continue with the next step (h).

Run the script:
---------------

(h) Options menu < Scripts < Open/New Colleaction ->
make it point to "SQdecoding_8_AK.scp"

Thanks for posting the text. I recently acquired AA2.0 and am collecting info and procedures right now for both QS and SQ. I'll play with AA and the scripts as time allows. (which is at a premium, so progress may be ssslllloooowwwww)
