Dick Dale R.I.P.

Another sad day for rock music. I just read the news that legendary guitarist Dick Dale has passed away. A truly remarkable artist who created a unique guitar sound that was 'loud' yet melodic in tone.

I do have several of his albums on CD including his most recent efforts. Still, I do feel a strong sense of loss for this great musician who stretched his talents well beyond his surf music roots.

Very influential musician -- saw him live only once, at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. Must admit, his style becomes a bit tiring after a while, but you could say that for almost any solo guitarist that doesn't sing!
