Annie - Original Broadway Cast was originally released in SQ only, no stereo counterpart. The first CD issue is also SQ encoded. Can one assume that the cassette, Q4, and Half Speed Master are also SQ encoded?

Got it... well if you have the SQ LP release and the CD already I don't know why you'd want the tape versions, and the 1/2 speed master...well, you'd probably be paying too much for a copy of Annie! :yikes Just kidding, just not a fan. I'd say since the CD was encoded then it is a very fair bet that at least the two tape versions are also encoded, but that's just a semi-educated guess. Would they even be reproducible back to quad from a stereo cassette? John

Cassettes are not a reliable medium for matrix quad playback, especially SQ. Inconsistencies in tape head azimuth (recorder/duplicator vs. playback deck) mess with phase, and can kill matrix performance. 8-track would be worse for obvious reasons ... not the least of which is the thickness of the pack of matches required to encourage playback alignment.

So, technically, the half-speed master of Annie should be one of the best examples of SQ encoding on vinyl?
