That unit seems very interesting. Not certain how to apply it.

I think the miniDSP company has had the same deluge of requests for HDMI input that our friends at Involve Audio have. I think that unit is an alternative to pre pros and receivers. (and electronic crossovers)

Chucky you could license software to program the miniDSP to be a Surround Master. Maybe.

Wasn't the need to get multichannel analog into a receiver with only HDMI input? This seems to be another of the reverse direction (hdmi to analog).

That was a different thread. There also have been requests for the Surround Master to have HDMI inputs but it costs too much to license for a small niche product like the SM.

No The Big request is how the Surround Master can output HDMI to a modern AVI receiver. Output.

I wuzn't paying close enough attention. I am not very interested in HDMI for audio only so my focus was not accurate.
