My name is Trevor. I’m originally from London, England, but moved permanently to São Paulo 2 years ago to remarry and retire. I’m 66 years old and in 1976 did my BSc thesis at Imperial College, London, in quadraphonics, which involved a thorough and derailed examination and comparison between SQ, QS and CD-4. I did not include UD-4 or ambiosonics though I did talk to proponents and designers of those formats. I visited Sony, JVC, Abbey Road Studios, and EMI Records who gave considerable help. I also had, and still have, a significant collection of mint quadraphonic LPs in various formats (eg Santana, Pink Floyd, America, Steely Dan, etc). I also used to have a few quadraphonic 8 track cartridges with Santana music! then went into audio retail selling high end equipment, generally Linn, Naim, and Rega and had a Naim 250 tri-amp system. Nowadays I’m into hi resolution downloads but still interested in quadraphonics which I see is making a comeback via SACD. I am also a drummer of 65 years and friends with Dr Patrick Gleason of Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi band. Patrick was wholly responsible for the amazing production of Mwandishi, Crossings, and Sextant.

Firstly, thank you for your welcome. I had forgotten having registered many years ago for a variety of reasons, but here are my drum kits. The first is my acoustic kit, a Yamaha Custom Maple with some unusual shell sizes that were made for me, and a Roland kit based upon a TD20 brain and two other modules by Roland and Yamaha, and nineteen pads. This has now been upgraded to a TD30KV and reduced to six cymbals and six drums. Whilst it seems extravagant, I have been playing since the age of one and originally had lessons with the teacher who taught Phil Collins, and with photography it’s my real passion.

Hell of a kit!
May I ask, whose signatures are on the drum heads hung in the wall?

Horacio ‘Negro’ Hernandez; Alan White of Yes (who so sadly passed away last week); Return To Forever (Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Stanley Clarke, and Lenny White); Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys; and there are autographed photos and other relics that you can’t see of The Beatles, Jim Morrison, Carlos Santana, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Madonna, George Michael, The Monkees, The Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Simon & Garfunkel, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Mick Hucknel of Simply Red, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Police, Abba, and Genesis.

Here are a few of the autographs.
