Those are just awesome lyrics.....the great poets of popular music are a dying breed. Had you not told me those were Tull lyrics...easily could have been Jim Morrison type lyrics. Great stuff!!!

Another "must buy."

...the one I'm waiting patiently for is "Heavy Horses."

Assuming SW does it I can't wait to hear what he does with the multi-layered vocals on the title track.
"Bring me a wheel of oaken wood,
a rein of polished leather,
a Heavy Horse and a tumbling sky,
brewing heavy weather..."

Thanks Mr TooTull! Are you saying that only 2 of the Paris tracks was mixed into 5.1 for this?

All Paris 1975 tracks remixed by Jakko Jakszyk, all in stereo & 5.1.

Steven Wilson's 5.1 remix of the album includes Summerday Sands & an early take on Requiem.

OOH! "La Grande Édition!" Fancy pantalons at the ready! :p

I love these Tull releases, the amount of love and care (and sheer work!) that must go into each of these..

Hope they carry on in similar fashion through the next few albums at least. Meantime I'm very much looking forward to this.. an SW 5.1 remix... a Jakko live 5.1 mix.. an unreleased Quad.. and other extras.. just wow!

(Ps. Thanks for the pic, you terrible tease!!)

Not one of my top tier J Tull albums but I'm definitely in for the Grande - the 5.1 mixes and the live set make it a pretty easy sell.

I like the fact that Jakko and Wilson are working on this project, in their respective roles. A nice effort for team KC mixers. This is actually the album I was really waiting for a surround mix, more than the others. Now if J and W can get together for a Crimson mixing collaboration...

Not likely.
AFAIK, Wilson's mixing on "Beat" and "Three of a Perfect Pair" are all finished, and same goes for Jakko's mixing on "THRAK".

Hopefully all of them will be out this year, but I've been hoping for that since the beginning of 2013, so only time will tell...

La Grande version features rare and unreleased tracks plus bonus material
Jethro Tull will reissue their 1975 album Minstrel In The Gallery to mark its 40th anniversary.
The La Grande edition launches on May 4 via Parlophone and features rare and previously unreleased tracks including new mixes by Steven Wilson.
It will be released on 2CD and 2DVD and is the latest remaster from the band’s back catalogue following last year’s War Child reissue.

The second disc is a live performance recorded in Paris in July 1975 where the band showcased tracks from the album ahead of its launch. In addition, the album comes with a short film of the group playing the record's title track at the same concert.
Additionally, on the same day as the La Grande edition launches, a stereo remix of Minstrel In The Gallery will be released as a CD single, on digital formats and as a limited-edition heavyweight 180g vinyl pressing.
Anderson has confirmed he'll play a set of Jethro Tull classics at this year's inaugural Ramblin' Man Fair at Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent on the weekend of July 25-26. Tickets are on sale now. Jethro Tull notched its sixth gold record in 1975 with its eighth studio album, Minstrel In The Gallery. Its elaborate production is reminiscent of the band’s 1972 classic Thick As A Brick and its songs rock as hard as anything in the band’s vast and storied catalog . To mark the occasion of the album’s 40-year anniversary, Parlophone will present several new versions of the record.
Minstrel In The Gallery: 40th Anniversary La Grandé Edition will be available as a limited edition 2CD/2DVD set on April 28th.
Highlights from the set include:
-Original album and seven bonus tracks (six previously unreleased), two mixed to 5.1 surround , and all to stereo by Steven Wilson
-Flat transfers of the original LP mix at 96/24+ Summerday Sands
-Flat transfer of the original quad mix of the LP + Summerday Sands
-An eight and a half minute film of the band performing “Minstrel In The Gallery” in Paris from July 1975
-Presented in a case-bound DVD book that includes an 80-page booklet featuring an extensive history of the album, track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, recollections by roadie Kenny Wylie, Maison Rouge maintenance engineer Pete Smith, and string section member Liz Edwards plus lyrics, tour itinerary and rare and unseen photographs.

Additionally on April 28th, a new stereo remix of Minstrel In The Gallery will also be released on a single CD, digitally, and on 180-gram vinyl as a limited edition pressing.

When it was originally released, Minstrel In The Gallery became the band’s fifth consecutive US Top 10 album, peaking at #7 and #20 in the UK. It was also the last to feature the longtime lineup of Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John Evan, Barriemore Barlow and Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond.

For this anniversary edition, the album has been expanded with the b-side “Summerday Sands,” several studio outtakes, as well as alternate session material done for a BBC broadcast, of the album’s title track, “Cold Wind To Valhalla” and “Aqualung”. The second disc features a live recording of the band performing at the Olympia in Paris on July 5th, 1975, a few months prior to the release of Minstrel In The Gallery. During the show, the band played songs from several of its albums, including War Child (1974) and Aqualung (1971), as well as an early performance of Minstrel In The Gallery. It was mixed to 5.1 & stereo by King Crimson guitarist Jakko Jakszyk.
