Oh no! R.I.P. Roy.... had a friend who was a good guitar player and worshipped Roy....he could never figure out how he played so well with his short stubby fingers. Just an awesome guitar player and entertainer.

This is a heartbreaking loss for country music. Roy was a very gifted guitar player. I grew up watching him on Hee Haw every week. My exposure to music in the 70's was mainly TV and friends and relatives. There seemed to be a lot of country on Canadian TV back then, but Roy is the one I remember most.

I was fortunate to see him in a Symphony Pops concert many years ago. He was a fantastic guitar player for sure. He’s pickin’ and grinin’ in heaven with Buck right now.

RFD TV (DirecTV 345) runs Hee Haw a few times each week. At the present, they are airing season 11 (1980).

Hee Haw!! Now Roy is off in Kornfield heaven, plucking away with the rest of the gang.

He had a huge crossover hit with Yesterday When I Was Young. Every time I hear that song, I have it on several CDs, I repeat it, several times. What a great song and a great artist.
