I moved out to San Francisco from the UK earlier this year and I've finally put together a surround system and I'm waiting for my DVDAs/SACDs and other media to ship over (along with my Oppo BDP-83). I've been finding some quad records and even a few DVDAs and SACDs at places like Amoeba Records. But I'm really hoping to find some older hardware - perhaps a QS or SQ decoder or a Quad Open Reel Deck would be really interesting to pick up as there were generally none to be found in the UK. If any QQers know of any where in SF or even wider in California where something interesting may be found then by all means let me know.

If you want a QS or SQ decoder - go for a Surround Master. Don't bother with a vintage decoder...

And remember that the SQ decoder is the
Only SQ decoder ever released that is a 3 band decoder
As well as the QS 3 band decoder

Rustyandi and Lizardking, so I should opt for the SQ version of the Surround Master and place this after my pre-amp; stereo in to the SM SQ then 4 channel out to my amp?

That's right but as you may have read
Charlie has said that they are looking at the SQ decode
and may come up with some thing even better
Although I am very happy with my SQ decoding
