So, I've got an album on CD: "X Japan Live Live Live: Tokyo Dome 1993-1996".

I'm decoding it through a full-logic Sony SQD-2070... and it's lovely. The decode isn't anything special, except that the audience is behind me, with the occasional girl shouting somewhere in front, off to the side. It's like I'm actually sitting at a concert. Instruments and vocals rarely hit the rear channels, and when they do, they sound like an intentional effect. On some tracks it's significantly more pronounced than on others, depending on the volume of audience cheering that is mixed into the recording.

There are no special markings on the disc, case, or booklet, other than "IP Stereo". I know quad was more popular in Japan, and Q-Sound was also around and somewhat popular at that time (especially in video games). But none of those logos are on anything.

Wondering if any of the people working on this were former quad guys, or if this was just luck to have it come out like this.

Thoughts?

Charles.
