Quite a few Brian Eno back catalogue albums appear to have dropped in Atmos. Guess he must be pretty sold on the format? Mix credited to Emre Ramazanoglu

Oh wow, This is a delightfully unexpected birthday gift!

Impressions from a sampling of the Eno albums:
The Big Ship, my all time favorite song is beautiful and grand, Atmos done well.

I’ll Come Running does that same strange “behind/inside the head” vocal mixing as FOREVERANDEVERNOMORE. Wish it did a bit more with that big Fripp solo at the end.

Reflections is a wide mix. I have the Apple TV/iOS app that infinitely generates this album so I’ve heard a lot of it. I recall the gimmick of this one on release was each real life season they’d swap the track on streaming services with a new one that the algorithm generated based on seasonal cues, and the app would update as well. I never checked to see if they kept doing this year after year… probably not. I wonder what season they mixed… or if it’s a new roll of the dice.

Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy seems to be the ”weaker“ of these I’ve sampled so far, but still is pretty good.

Small Craft on a Milk Sea opens with some of the best use of heights I think I’ve heard. Shimmering sounds all around and above me.

Here’s hoping this is batch one of many for Eno mixes (also please throw Another Day on Earth on streaming please!)

His last release is not, so I guess it is his label doing this, not him… I see a few artists, they have an atmos album and then make a new release and it is not in atmos. I guess they want the label to bear the extra release costs, and not take that from their advance?
I’m not sure if artists see an avantage to release in atmos.

Anyhow, some good stuff to had for me. Nice find.

For the last year or so, his label (or someone associated with him) has been slicing up some of his compilations like Music for Installations and his recent Film Music series into smaller EPs/Albums, presumably for some sort of Spotify algorithm nonsense.

This is how I release. You will never be added to any playlist if your track is more than 10mn.

People have been talking that streamers should pay publishers like radio/tv do: for every 30s played.
