I think my first George Duke LP was Brazilian love affair. He will be missed.

When the funk hits you, you might stink...

I had the privilege to see George play live (as a member of the Mothers Of Invention) back in 1971 at the Fillmore East - been a fan ever since. A tremendous player, producer, arranger and songwriter who excelled in rock, pop, and jazz - a one of kind player - he will be missed. Here's a link to a YouTube video of George performing and singing "Inca Roads" with Zappa in 1974 - one of my favorite Zappa tunes - George shines;

Mmmmmmm Inca Roads, from One Size Fits All. Now where is that quad release? It made one of those "unreleased" lists... (I think the Zappa folks finally decided that the "Roxy and Elsewhere" quad mix was done but unreleased, and OSFA was never done, but I remain hopeful.)

RIP George!

very, very sad, george was a true pioneer of jazz/rock fusion, an incredible musician, and a helluva nice guy who never let fame get in the way of being a real person. he will be missed. he is probably jamming right now with FZ, whom he loved and missed very much

Coincidentally, yesterday, I received the latest issue of Keyboard magazine which has a cover story all about George. Eerie.
