The minimalist Mr Glass certainly knows how to get some great sounding, deep music coming through the surround system.
The mix is not overly adventurous but in this case that suits the music.
Tricky to vote on as not normally something I would play or listen to.
But to take it at face value..
It's an 8 from me.

I've always been a fan both of the music and the movie. I voted 9.

I just hold of a used DVD-A and I have to say - just like Buena Vista Social Club DVD-A, I find gripes about not having different sounds pop out discretely all over the place to be redundant. It isn't that way on the Criterion blu ray - it's an all-enveloping sonic atmosphere which has quite a mesmerising effect. The sound is streets ahead of the CD - the bass really rumbles. Philip Glass reminds me of Michael Nyman and some of Jean-Michel Jarre. A pity none of their oeuvre are available in this format.

I’d love to hear the music from the DVD-A while watching the criterion release. Wonder if it would be even possible, since the tracks have different lengths. Anyway, I love both releases and hope eventually it gets a Dolby Atmos release too!
