Sorry for the questions.... I'm just starting in this journey... Where is the best place to buy quadraphonic songs / albums to be loaded on computer / phone so can be played on home stereo? Do you buy the CD and rip it (how do you rip it) or download the digital version (duttonvocalion)? What do you look for on the CD to ensure quad version?

Yep most of the albums are only available on SACD, Blu Ray Audio, DVD or the old quad formats SQ, CD-4, Q8 etc and need to be ripped to be able to play from a computer... The Dutton Vocalion quads are all on SACD... There might be some useful info here. They usually say multichannel...

There are a couple of download sites with some cool albums on though...

High Res Audio
Native DSD lots of quality classical titles
Surround Music
and Jon even found ELP on e-Onkyo!

Top tune list coming up!

It's actually sad how good the In The Zone DVD-A is, especially when there are classic albums out there with crappy surround mixes.

To be fair, it WAS Britney's '15 minutes of fame' album and I've certainly heard worse....and a brief exposure to RCA's handful of MLP DVD~As before SONY acquired BMG and ceased DVD~A replication altogether!

Hello,

My first contribution here :)

These are a few song to start with that sounds very very cool in DPL II Music.

John Coltrane, Say it (so impressive how piano is in front right and saxo behind left)
Michael Jackson, Stranger in Moscow
Supertramp, The Logical Song.
Matthieu Chedid, Une âme (with some African vibes and Kora)
Elvis, Fever
