According to Mojo Magazine, In Search Of Space is getting a boxset next year.

"Remastered and remixed by Stephen W Tayler, the triple-disc set comes in a 10-inch x 10-inch deluxe package and will include unreleased sessions and outtakes."

This must include surround mix surely Shirley

So much for my wallet getting a break next year.
And I just upgraded my old CD to the newer one with bonus tracks....

Awesome. Next year is less than month away! 😃 Maybe early Spring?

Without giving too much away, yes it has been mixed in 5.1 and sounds great to me!!

I am Atmos capable, but have yet to be commissioned to create any Atmos mixes for release. Sure it will start happening soon.

Thanks for confirming, that's great news. Your Space Ritual and Camel mixes are still on constant rotation for me, and are the best releases of what has been an excellent surround year!

A tad expensive for what it is, but it does have the first ever surround mix of Silver Machine by the look of it, and it is a great album, so I'm in.

Probably because of the 68 page book. I was expecting something around £30, like the Renaissance reissues, but then I realise this is being released in a much bigger format. Still good, though. At least there's no stupid vinyl (I do like vinyl, BUT as a separate release) which would put it well into the £100 or so, so I'm in, too.

I know this view won't be shared by everyone, but I always appreciate to have a CD and a decent package alongside the blu-ray, so I'm very happy about that. I don't really like standalone blu-ray releases in a standard blu-ray case. Plus original stereo mix + new stereo remix + new surround mix is exactly what I wanted.

My first ever LP in surround, whoopee......... :SG:SB:51QQ:dance"You Know You’re Only Not Dreaming"

Edit: I was just musing, that come release date I'm going to be able to regress back to being 13 and put it on repeat play as I did then, 3 or 4 times one after the other when I got it!

In Search of Space-the Hawkwind Log

August 1972. Silver Machine by Hawkwind had been released 8 June and by July it had reached number 3 in the UK charts. I didn’t buy the single, but I remember going to visit my school friend [who] had the first Black Sabbath album, Aqualung by Jethro Tull and In Search of Space by Hawkwind, recorded in 1971. A few weeks later [he] sold the Hawkwind album to me for £2.50.

While it was playing I read the 24 page Hawkwind Logbook which came with the album. Without exaggeration it was a life changing moment.

What blew my not quite 14 year old mind away was the combination of the psychedelic space rock music on In Search of Space and the Bob Calvert/ Barney Bubbles text and images of the Hawkwind logbook. The entries in the log, all dated, mix past, present and future. It begins with part of Michael Moorcock’s ‘The Black Corridor’, and goes on to include a whole range of alternative/counterculture references, from the magical and mystical to the political and ecological, filtered through acid inspired science fiction.
