Kraftwerk’s Headphone Surround 3D

I have listened to this mix on the ‘Kraftwerk 3-D’ release with my standard headphones and it sounds quite ordinary, though very good. Do I need something special, such as Apple Airpods to listen in so-called ‘3-D’?

No.

There have been many experiments with binaural headphone mixes through the years, with varying degrees of success that seem to vary widely from listener to listener.

I think this was a good-faith attempt to offer an enhanced headphone mix.
How out-dated it seems already.

And you can't buy a 3D television any more?
So how many can watch this in its full glory?
I never shall.

I have it on my Atmos playlist on Apple Music.
It will play in a spatial binaural rendering to airpods, but of course that's a radical compromise from hearing this material on surround speakers IMHO.
