This is a follow up with URLs .
Since I am new to your system I not sure how to let them, and to explain to everyone else.
If you would like to DIY see the db paper
If you like math , see the AES paper.
I have included many actual scope displays you will find of interest. Quadfather, Quadsearcher

The AES paper is the theoretical background , I must confess I built it first then justified it with formulas.

AES paper: JAE1972-p483-488.pdf

The db magazine is a DIY, and it over laps the AES paper.

That's really interesting, thanks for sharing!

I "fooled around" with a HeathKit (tube) oscilloscope a while back, but never got beyond the calibration display.
It's doubtful that this model would have been up to the quad challenge anyway, I only recall one input... :(

anyway - very cool.

The 1st scope I used was a Heathkit IO-10, real compact and full of tubes. I picked this scope for its X Y ( dual ) inputs.

The scope I am using now is a Kenwood KC-6060A , I use the Multi path inputs on the rear. A very nice scope.

Thank you
It took him 5 years to catch up . It is interesting to look at the filing dates. My db manuscript is dated Feb 7, 1972.
If anyone has the box above, it is the same circuit, so...
The AC power supplies shown in the db article could replace his batteries.
The mod to get 5.1 DVD and 6.1/7.1 will also work. Just add a 10k resistor and series diode for each extra input

5.1 center amp to (via 10k R & series diode) +V
6.1 Add rear center amp to ( " " ) -V
7.1 Add side stereo L amp to ( " " ) -H
Add " " R " " " " +H
note: In 7.1 mode, the 6.1 connection is not used , and may be left open.
