Hi All,

Wanted to pick your brains on something. I have been using my lr 5000 as my main quad receiver for sq records. I just inquired the qrx 7500 and thinking of using it as my main system. Can anyone tell me
Which receiver has a better sq decoder or are they both on the same level?

Thanks guys,

Thanks quad Linda. I had a feeling the lr 5000 would be better for sq records. No, I also play CD4 and Qs records also. I knew that the Qrx would probably be great on those 2 formats. If were to put the lr 5000 to the side, I wanted to know if I was not losing anything on the "Sq" experience...lol

Thanks again,
Joe

If SQ is your only criterion, the Lafayette does a better job.

I agree, Linda. I, too, have an LR-5000, and it's SQ section is very nice indeed. However, I must say that since I've had my QRX-6001 restored, https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/fo...Ready-Restored-My-Sansui-QRX-6001!&highlight= the work done by Chris Ready greatly improved the SQ section. I guess more modern capacitors etc. make a huge difference. BTW, the QS decoder is now so good, that it almost sounds discrete! Also, I've discovered that the LR-5000 CD-4 section is much less picky about the 30kHz carrier lock (there's not even an adjustment for it), than the Sansui's is. That said, once Lou Dorren's CD-4 unit is here, I won't be using either receiver's CD-4 circuits. On the whole, the Sansui has better sound quality than the Lafayette, and that's the one I'll keep using.
