Just for fun, I like to run movies thru my Pioneer QX9900 just to see what they sound like. The other night, while watching the BHS, I thought just for kicks, run it thru either decoder on my Pioneer. The SQ did absolutely nothing in typical Pioneer fashion, but I was quite surprised when I switched it over to RM mode. I was astonished! It is almost like the movie was actually encoded to be played back in RM! :rollin:

For a rough breakdown of the opening scene with Buddy & the Crickets at the Roller-Rink, this is pretty much how it sounded:

From Front Left : Buddy's Guitar and vocals
Front Right: Bass and vocals

Rear Left: ambience, drums, background sounds
Rear Right: ambience, drums and background sounds.

The seperation was indeed there! What totally amazed me is how front left lazered in on Gary Busey's guitar playing! It was damn near discrete! You couldn't hear lead guitar in any other channel!

If anybody owns this movie, give it a try! You might be pleasently surprised if you're a BH fan (though you might not like the movie if you ARE a BH fan)

Cheers! ;)
