Thanks for clarifying thingsohh.. i wouldn't base your vote on my shitty old conversion Mister Pupster! i just gave it a listen and really the mix could be anything!
fwiw i'm playing the CD-4 right now (using a different cart and demodulator to the old transfer) and it feels like the saxophone is in a kind of phantom "Room Centre" position, with reverbed sax in the Fronts and dry sax in the Rears
(disclaimer: i've got the separation pots pushed as far as i can without the whole thing turning into a splattering mess)
big but coming up.. i've never heard the Q8 however, so i've no true discrete point of reference.
maybe the saxophone is on the Rear Left after all! i doubt it.. ultimately, wherever it is meant to be, i find the album to be so fabulous and Gene Page's arrangements so sumptuous and lush i almost don't care! please Mr. Dutton do this one so i can retire the LP and hear it as it really should be at last!
anyway.. a throw caution to the wind, it may be wrong but i love it and it's my life "10".
sorry i've no idea about the availability of the Q8 of this one Pup, i stopped looking for old Quad tapes a while backThanks for clarifying things
I’d love to hear the Q8 version also, I’m assuming they’re rare or maybe a clean one is?
You go to war (er I mean) fav listening room with the version you have, not the version you wish you had.
