i noticed in early videos of the pre-production unit that the platter was wobbling around quite a bit and thought it might have been something they could improve upon, i guess not!

That is really bad engineering in pursuit of novelty. The magnetic bearing affords no great rumble isolation as any magnetic field strong enough to support a heavy turntable will be 'stiff' enough to transmit vibrations - "ye cannae change the laws of physics"!! Plus it has introduced an entirely unnecessary vertical degree of freedom of movement (as if controlling the others hadn't proved difficult enough!).
