Hello Tom,
I'm hopeful too, I'm a big fan of JJ's music. Did you know that he lives just over the hill from us in Valley Center? You'll have to get over here one of these days and listen to how well his music synthesizes into surround. There is a quad connection to this album too, in that Billy Preston recorded on it just before his passing and the album is tributed to him. In addition to Eric, John Mayer is also on it. I don't think I'll be able to wait on a multi-channel that may never happen. And like I said, all JJ's Shelter label recordings synthesize really well. Gotta believe this one will too. Hopefully...

JJ Cale , Eric Clapton - The Road to Escondido
No word yet about a 5.1 mix.
The CD does decode well in SQ and DPLII.
The scope on the 4400 says there is plenty coming from the rears.
One song a guitar, another song drums, etc.
I haven't decided which is better yet SQ or DPLII.
I will need to listen about 15 or 20 more times to decide.
I do like the music.

Always wondered though why 'Pilgrim' never made it onto Dvd-A ?? If the bugger brings out a 'career-sized' boxset I'd have to sell the house to finance it
