Hi all,

I recently downloaded Wish You Were Here as Quad-DVD-A from Demonoid
and was very disappointed about the sound quality. It was obviously
done with the Tate-II decoder but the sound suffered from being dull
and lifeless for some reasons.
So I would like to do a new transfer of my own. I'm working at
Germany's biggest public radio station and we have all the
professional equipment needed for this job - EMT 950 turntables and a
fully equipped Cedar Cambridge restoration system. I have some
experience in SQ decoding with the Auditions scripts and I would love
to try it with this great recording.
I even looked for it at Ebay but the Quad pressing is quite rare and
expensive. So if one of you guys own it and is willing to lend it to
me, it would be highly appreciated. I promise to treat it carefully
and send it back accompanied with the quad medium I'm going to produce
out of it (dts-CD, DVD-A or -V).

Thanks in advance, regards,
tom

What version did you DL?
There are several knocking around.
Dull & lifeless sound implies excessive denoising to me.......

I suppose that Pablo got the message from the yahoo group... he's not Thomas.

I think it's this one: http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/413942/1273322/

Though I can't be sure as that's a re-posting. Bob, does that look like it? Oh, and it is excellent!

I think it IS a repost of the one mentioned.
One guy says it skips, he must have not burned it properly.
Sure as hell don't skip on mine! :D

I seeded it for a while but as I use my machine for work as well
as play, I can only seed to a certain time.
My original went dead so I offed it.
Someone else may have taken up the cause but their copy may have been corrupt as well.

Wow, I didn't read the comments! That doesn't sound like what I have. Hard to know if they are clueless, or just so used to the Q8 and it's HEAVY bass that they think there is a problem with the treble?

How can I get an invitation code for Demonoid?

Thanks,
Rick

The Demonoid version "skips" twice, I have not had a problem with similar files? I still find it enjoyable except for these small flaws.

Just to keep everyone's hopes up for an official release, David Gilmour was quoted as saying in August 2008 that the SACD was still being worked on. It should be Guthrie at the controls again and IIRC, it's release date should be sometime this year. Cross yer' toes!
