Advice needed: 8 track deck belt

Hello all,
need an advice. Today i popped in a 8 track in the quad jvc player and... nothing moved.
Opened it up, the belt broke.

Since it's quite a long time i've belt serviced my decks, i'm not sure about the right replacement.
I've seen Barry 8 track reapir site and it does suggest to
1) measure the belt lenght
2) subtract 5% or 10% due to stretching.

Broken belt lenght is 300mm

I can find replacement belt in two sizes:
285mm (which is -5%)
270mm (which is -10%).

What do you suggest among the two belts?

I would opt for the smaller one, but depending on the price why not get both? It won't cost any more to ship two belts.

Only problem with too small is it puts undue wear on bearing surfaces, and it can slow it down. There was a company that made belts called PRB, they had a cross reference. JVC 4ME4800 and 4804 are both listed as FRX12.0 (304.8mm), 4801 is not listed, I'd expect 4801 to be 12.0 also, it's just likely. It might still be found as FRX12.0. Dimensions are 12.0" inside circumference, .245" cross section, .073" wall thickness.

5-10% is when a belt is slipping. It might have broken without having been stretched.

Right on. PRB had rubber lathes. I don't know if Russell makes belts and idlers, but at least they are keeping the line alive.
PRB was 30 min. from work for me in the 90s.
