Well, sixteen months after it was announced that there would be expanded reissues of Townshend's solo catalog, there are finally some listings on Amazon UK. At the moments, no real details are given. Empty Glass, Psychoderelict and All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes are all scheduled for a September 30th release. Unfortunately, they're all listed as single disc releases. I know that Amazon can sometimes get that info wrong on their initial listings, but they're all also priced at £13.72. Not sure what to make of that. That price is higher than just about any other single CD in Amazon's top 100. The recently released 2 CD + 5.1 DVD edition of Mike Oldfield's Discovery (also distributed by Universal) is currently priced at £12.99, which is what I paid for it on release date. Since the release date is six weeks away, I imagine we'll have details soon. Not getting my hopes up, but I would love to have these albums in surround. Let the speculation begin!

EDIT: Someone posted over on SDE that these reissues will have no bonus material. He doesn't cite a source. Would be a drag if this is true. :(

I was at least hoping the reissue of Pete's solo catalogue would give Universal the chance to reissue the 5.1 mix of "Rough Mix" (with Ronnie Lane) on HFPA Blu-Ray disc, but I have seen no such firm plans to do that, so it seems this may just be a stereo-only reissue campaign.

Some re-issue campaign. Two of those were re-released around a decade ago with bonus tracks, at least.

Who Came First, White City and Iron Man are now showing up in Amazon with the same release date. Again, no real info included in the listing. However, they're listed at about half the price as reissues of Empty Glass, Psychoderelict and All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes. Not sure what to make of that. One would hope that it means the higher priced ones have some nice bonus content, but it could just be Amazon not having their act together. Release date is five weeks away so I guess we'll know soon enough.....

I made the mistake of buying what I thought was a 5.1 release of Peter Townshend's "Who Came First" which turned out to be a DAD 2.0 DVD disc back in 2004 :(.

Pete is too busy 'researching' to remix any album.

I 'think' keenly is referring to Townsend's unfortunate child pornography scandal some years back where he defensively told authorities he was doing 'research' for a future musical project..........perhaps TOMMY II?

In any event all charges were dropped......and Pete changed Servers:ugham:

As Cyndi Lauper once warbled: MONEY changes EVERYTHING! Ain't THAT the TRUTH?

Well, the news isn't good. From Pete's Facebook page:

The first seven of Pete's solo albums will be re-issued on 30 September. The albums have all been remixed and remastered and will be available as digipaks with CD booklets. No bonus tracks.

Major missed opportunity here. Even if they didn't include 5.1 mixes (which of course, I really wish they would) there is a lot of related video that has never had a DVD or Blu-ray release. Chinese Eyes had a 30 minute video LP as did White City. White City also had the fantastic 90 minute Deep End Brixton concert video. For Psychoderelict there was a 2.5 hour concert video filmed in Brooklyn. Needless to say, they won't be getting my money.

The Brooklyn show has been available on DVD for about a decade now, and there is a Deep End CD/DVD coming out soon.
