Posted this over at the Hoffman forums, but I figured I'd try here as well:

I'm wondering if anyone else has had an issue with DVD1 of the Devi/ation set. When I try to play the AHM Quad mix, it immediately jumps to "If" and refuses to play the title track, no matter what I do. The quad mixes are one of the main selling points for me and I do not have Blu-Ray surround capabilities, so this is a huge bummer for me. I know about some of the issues people have been having with a couple of the BD discs in the set, but I haven't read anything about DVD problems. I did notice a couple of scuffs right in the middle of the disc, so I'm wondering if that's the cause.

I've been really happy with the set so far (just got it a couple of days ago), so I'm hoping I can resolve this. I really don't want to ship it back to Amazon UK!!

"Skips to IF" ? Yow, that's strange.

Did you try your audio button on the remote ? See if that assists in some way ? You could try stereo first, then hit the correct format (DTS MA 4.1) on the audio button on the remote. Try this with the first track ?

That's not happening to me (skipping of "If'), but I'm playing it as files from a drive.

Are there official Polls yet for the Meddle and AHM surround mixes in the PF box?

No, mainly cause I'm not sure how to handle the polls for a set like this, especially since the "Meddle" 5.1 mix is not even supposed to be a part of the set.
The 6 main volumes are supposed to get individual releases sometime this year, so there's probably a greater likelihood that polls will be created for the '70, '71, and '72 volumes when those are released away from the big box, but I will confer with Jon about this very soon.
Regardless, at this point in time, I would only create a poll for the entire box set because that is how it is sold right now.

True to their word, Pink Floyd are breaking up the "Early Years" box set into much cheaper individual volumes, which will be available on March 24th.
1965-1967: CAMBRIDGE ST/ATION: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06X6FRJ4T/
1968: GERMIN/ATION: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06X8YSNP9/
1969: DRAMATIS/ATION: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06X6FQWDX/
1970: DEVI/ATION: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06VTY9LY4/ (Featuring the 4.0 Mix of "Atom Heart Mother")
1971: REVERBER/ATION: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06WGNX5PL/ (Featuring the 4.0 Mix of "Echoes")
1972: OBFUSC/ATION: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06WRQMLKJ/ (Featuring the 5.1 Mix of "Live at Pompeii")

Now obviously, the big question: Is the 5.1 mix of "Meddle" still on the 1971 Blu-Ray? Guess we'll have to wait until the end of March to find out!

:)

Lets hope so, otherwise the 1971 set seems to be the most skimpy of the lot......maybe that is a hint in itself. :)
Looking forward to some separate purchases.

I think you mean: Will they fix the menu so users can play Meddle 5.1 from the disc :)

meanwhile the price of the box set has dropped tremendously on amazon uk, right now 272 pounds

All of the sets are now available to preorder from the official Pink Floyd online store:
http://shop.pinkfloyd.com/the-early-years
http://the-early-years.pinkfloyd.com

(Although for those of us who live in the US, it's cheaper to order them from amazon.co.uk where you can get the 1970, 1971, and 1972 sets shipped to the US for around $107 right now. Not bad for 12 discs!)

:)

Amazon UK seems to be the way to go, £33 each compared to £45 on Pink Floyd online store, with a couple slightly different.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the 5.1 Mix of "Live at Pompeii on the Obfusc/ation set?

I don't have it, but Andy Jackson originally described it on QQ as such:
It's as if the band are in a U shape around you, DG to your left, Rick to your right, bass a bit right, vocals 'out in the room' a bit, pretty much as they are standing if you (the listener) were in front of Nick

Sounds like a good stereo system then!

The mix is just fine, but there are some moments when sound is clearly distorted (I cannot explain why, some people call it static) and that bugs me a lot. I've listened to it a couple of times and don't have any plans to go back to it in quite some time.
Sadly, my favourite version of Pompeii is still the quad transfer.
