AUDIOPHILE AUDITION for July-August 2003

For July-August - the only annual double issue - AUDIOPHILE AUDITION (www.audaud.com) boasts 108 SACD, DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and CD reviews. There are three dozen Hi-Res format reviews - a new record for the online publication! The web magazine of audio, music and home theater covers classical, jazz and rock, along with music videos and feature films. The three components reviewed this month are the new Denon 2900 Universal Player, TriadÕs Home Theater Speaker Systems, and the Panamax MAX 4400 Surge Protector. New additions to the Classical Hall of Fame picks is a Special Feature.

AUDIOPHILE AUDITION has been reviewing each month more of the new hi-res formats than any other publication, web or print. While most this issue are multichannel, there is one Mono release - Miles DavisÕ ÒSteaminÕÓ on Mobile Fidelity SACD. The multichannel disc of the month is the DVD-A of YesÕ classic ÒFragile.Ó More Hi-Res: Fleetwood Mac - Say What You Will; SHOSTAKOVICH: Jazz Suites; R. STRAUSS: Alpine Symphony, and Bernstein conducting his West Side Story. Of both high tech and high musicality interest is a two-disc release of Sir Simon Rattle conducting MAHLERÕs Fifth Symphony on EMI - one disc is DVD Video and the other DVD-Audio! Jazz CDs include new releases from Greg Osby, Paolo Conte, Martial Solal, Pat Metheny and Keith Jarrett. Seven music video DVDs are reviewed, including VERDIÕs Aida directed by Zeffirelli, VANGELISÕ ÒMythodeaÓ extravaganza, and Herbie HancockÕs ÒFuture2Future.Ó
