I'm waiting for one of these to come up on EBay:

I had the 8 track version. Was actually very good with not much noise floor. Shoulda kept it!

I got one of these Tascam 244 porta-studios from a music store years ago. I had to change the tape head, though. The one that was in it was wearing down and wouldn't record on some of the tracks.
