There's not much overlap between the audience for Dutton Epoch's new recordings and Vocalion's quad reissues of funk, but I may be in that small group. I'll see what's in the next batch and go from there (haven't ordered from the funk or rock batches of December/January).

also posted to the same effect in the DV Classical thread to avoid any potential overlap unpleasantness 🙂

As a classical fan who has never gone wrong on his advice, I eagerly await ubertrout's take on the next DV batch :).

Next Dutton Epoch batch is here, as promised.
So, a brief summary of what these are:

duttonvocalion.co.uk store: ARTHUR SULLIVAN • Haddon Hall & ERNEST FORD • Mr Jericho & FRANCOIS CELLIER • Captain Billy [SACD Hybrid Multi-channel]PRE-ORDER | New releases - Classical | 2CDLX7372 | - three light operas - Sir Arthur Sullivan is by far the most famous here, taking a break from his usual partner W.S. Gilbert to provide music from a different librettist. More info on the work here: Haddon Hall (opera) - Wikipedia. The others are (even more) obscure. I suspect this is for serious fans of the genre only, although it's quite a generous pairing.
duttonvocalion.co.uk store: Robert Schumann - Concerto (Concertstück) & Alfredo Piatti - Concertino / Concerto No. 2 [SACD Hybrid Multi-channel]PRE-ORDER | New releases - Classical | CDLX7371 | - a well-known piece by a first rank composer (Schumann) in its original version, apparently in a first recording, coupled with two pieces by a composer I've never heard of before. Apparently he was a famous cellist, though - Carlo Alfredo Piatti - Wikipedia
duttonvocalion.co.uk store: RALPH VAUGHAN WILLIAMS • Household Music, Horn Sonata, Quintet & ARNOLD BAX • Horn Sonata [SACD Hybrid Multi-channel] | New releases - Classical | CDLX7373 | - more obscure pieces and juvenilia from one of England's most important composers. I'm open to being pleasantly surprised though (and on the Piatti as well).
duttonvocalion.co.uk store: Anton Simon - Piano Concerto, La revue de nuit, Danse de Bayadère, Plainte élégiaque & Cecile Chaminade - Suite No. 1 for orchestra [SACD Hybrid Multi-channel] | New releases - Classical | CDLX7374 | - Another mostly forgotten composer in recordings that are largely premieres. I expect a mix of Debussy and Tchaikovsky, I suppose we'll find out: Antoine Simon (composer) - Wikipedia

Some seriously deep cuts here, but then that's been Dutton's practice in its own recordings.

Cool, anyone familiar with these recordings/performances? Too bad there aren't sound samples, I'm open to investing in classical but know little about what to buy :/
