The Beautiful Letdown
Switchfoot
Super Audio CD Surround Sound/Super Audio CD Stereo/CD Audio
(Columbia Records CH 676182 / 8-2876-676182-6)

The Beautiful Letdown was originally released in 2003 and is the group's debut album on Sony Music's Columbia Records label. The album features 11 songs that were designed to broaden the group's following beyond their Contemporary Christian Music beginnings into a more Adult Contemporary vein. The Beautiful Letdown features the songs "Meant to Live", "Dare You to Move" and "This Is Your Life".

The album's 5.1 SACD Surround Sound Mix was produced by the husband and wife team of Elliot Mazer and Diana Haig. The SACD was authored by Woody Pornpitaksuk at Sony Music Studios in New York City.

Not a big Mazer fan. Hope someone can let me know what this mix is like.

The local Tower Records store had all 4 of today's Sony Music Surround Sound SACDs in stock today.

Of the group, I liked the John Mayer Room for Squares the best musically. Although the Duran Duran "Astronaut" has some pretty aggressive Surround sonics.

A write up is over on High Fidelity Review at http://www.highfidelityreview.com/news/news.asp?newsnumber=17563140

Got some pictures? What sort of packaging are they in?

The SACDs are in standard Jewel Boxes with the Sony Hybrid Surround Sound SACD stickers on the front.

According to the highfidelityreview link, the "Room For Squares" 5.1 mix was done by Jack Joseph Puig, so it's more than likely the same mix as the DualDisc which some of us felt wasn't worth the effort.(n)

He also did Heavier Things. While I enjoy the music, not the greatest mix in 5.1 history.

Picked up Duran Duran Astronaut about a half hour ago. Got a bit of a deal since even though the sticker said 18.97 it rang up as 16.99, and I had a coupon for $2 off, so it came to 14.99 in the end. Sure is tough getting that security sticker off the inside of the case. It left an aluminum remnant, which just won't come off. I saw the John Mayer one, so maybe I'll go back tomorrow and pick that one up. With any luck it'll ring up wrong also. Now what do I do with that silly dualdisc I'll never play again?

Those stickers are insane! I used Goo Gone to get off the remnants from the Switchfoot dually.
