Slightly OT - this particular release is stereo only.
Just got this - didn't know it existed until last week. I'm a big Philadelphia International fan (better than Atlantic, Stax, or Motown; heresy, I know). Beautiful 2ch hi-rez - MFSB just shine in the format. The liner notes don't point out that a big part of the band was members of the Philadelphia Orchestra - they are well served here.
OTOH, makes me wish the format hadn't crashed before Sony released other Philly Int'l albums in surround SACD. The O'Jay's "Ship Ahoy" is sooo good - I just salivate thinking about what "360 Degres of Billy Paul", O'Jay's "Love Train", or any of the Blue Notes albums would have sounded like in (even 2ch) hi-rez. CBS created quad mixes of a lot of them - it's a shame that they're locked in the vaults.
