CD-4 is very sensitive to stylus overhang, I'm planning to get an AT VM95SH phono cartridge to be used in my CD-4 capable Akai turntable.

I'm interested to know what brand and type of stylus overhang gauge that has provided good CD-4 reproduction.

Akai didn't supply a gauge, the manual shows holding the tonearm over the spindle and measuring the distance from the center of the spindle to the stylus.

Looks like the Geodisc device is good, a comment mentions the AT VM95SH (there's even a comment about it improving CD-4 playback with an old Empire cart).

I used the supplied gauge with my BIC tables and I checked to see how the overhang lined up with the template I received from Stereophile, years ago, and it was perfect. I wrote on the instructions that the template is Baerwald.

I have pretty much perfect CD-4 reproduction.
