About a year and a half ago, I posted a thread on the news of Full season of Elvis Costello's "Spectacle" coming to Blu Ray. You can read my comments here;

Great show, great 4 Disc BD set with spectacular DTS HD MA sound -featuring talk and over 40 tracks from the best of the best. I loved it - it rec'd a total of 5 responses on this forum :confused: But hey - relatively early days in the evolution of Blu Ray as a competing format for surround.

So here goes again. The full Season 2 of Spectacle is to be released on Jun. 7 of this year. It will be a 2 disc set and will feature all 7 episodes with interviews and performances from;

NEKO CASE, SHERYL CROW, RON SEXSMITH and JESSE WINCHESTER
• NICK LOWE, Richard Thompson, Allen Toussaint and LEVON HELM
• BONO and The Edge of U2
• Mary Louise Parker interviews ELVIS COSTELLO
• JOHN PRINE, LYLE LOVETT and Ray Lamontagne
• BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Part 1 & Part 2

Details have not been fleshed out but I will assume the same format as season 1 - which means 5.1 mix supervised by Elvis Costello and tons of bonus performances not aired on the original show. I had the privilege of attending the John Prine/Lyle Lovett/Ray Lamontagne taping at the Apollo in Harlem, NY - a very special evening.

There is a very cool site within Wiki that gives a thorough overview of the show and includes a complete listing of every artist, side man and song performed - including those not seen on the original airing of the episodes.

I can't recommend this highly enough.

Haven't seen the Blu-rays but I watched the show on Sundance cable in low-res - fantastic even without high quality picture and sound. The interviews are very interesting and there are great performances like the "Radio Nowhere" and "Radio Radio" medley by Elvis and Springsteen with members of both their bands.

I haven't ever seen an episode, sounds like I something I would enjoy. It is also something that I would think is outside of the mainstream, not a very big market, and I always happy to see that kind of programming on Blu-ray.
