The Advert mentions that the power light doesn't come on; and it won't until someone replaces it! While you're in the case, consider a rebuild. I did a full caps (and power indicator;-) some years ago, which would indicate that an average Iron can. You will need a Service Manual, here:

IN terms of difficulty, on my AOL "Favorite Places" this is kept under the heading "EVIL," and I swore I'd never do another...but am currently doing my #2 unit, nights when sleep eludes me, with the idea of "blueprinting" it with much more exact value components. It is a great little decoder, although I cannot believe the prices they're going for.
