Help! Any free software for making 5.1 mixes?

The availability of all those NIN multitracks has me wanting to make my own 5.1 mixes, but I don't wanna blow any coin right now. Is there anything free out there that can help me out? Does Acid Free do 5.1?

I also need to get myself a 5.1 soundcard, but that's not a big deal.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
