We lost funk queen Betty Davis last year, and I've been working on this Up-mix/De-mix/Re-mix of her 1975 album "Nasty Gal" sourced from an 2021 LP Reissue for a couple of weeks now. This up-mixed great IMO. The album was mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

Some really hard core Funk music here, but also a couple songs with more of a tender touch like, "You and I" (Brass Arrangement by Gil Evans &
Music Directed By Miles Davis.) Also the sensually haunting "The Lone Ranger", that shows off what a beautiful voice she really had.

watched it, yes very interesting doc. Sorry missed your earlier thread.

Seeing how she was living so austere in her last years makes me believe she had little income from her music. May have been chewed up by the record label contracts, it certainly wouldn't have helped out her mental state.

She had a real light in her eyes-

Harry Belafonte – Belafonte Sings The Blues​

doing some work on this Living Stereo AP SACD up-mix to 5.1.

Harry's vox in the Center; Horns in rears, and piano mainly in the Front Left & <Rear Left; Percussion in the Fronts. All de-mixed via DeMIX Pro and moved/isolated.

He's Lucky in Love (yah I bet!), a Royal Flush and it ain't no bust!

And despite what Keith thinks, I love the album, it's full of great musicians.

- from the 1985 CD this came out nice, written by Mick and Carlos Alomar- strange he's not playing guitar on this, maybe touring with Bowie or something? Also playing on this one, the greats Chuck Leavell on organ, Herbie Hancock on synths and so many others

ANNIE LENNOX - DIVA UDR 5.1
*I had a lot of fun up-mixing this one, but the dense production on some of it made it very difficult. It just shows that up-mix technology isn't totally up to snuff, at least as far as I've gotten with it.

The real revelation for me was a song on here I never really paid much attention to called "Primitive", just gorgeous, especially those lovely soundscapes spread all around you.

Strange that Fantasy gave Children of Lima a quad mix and not this one. Seems like it would have been a natural--a quasi-"crossover" album with Phil Ramone at the helm!
