HI there, I have been finding old Sansui equipment around the neighbourhood and starting to get a collection.
I have four sp5500x speakers
G 8700 reciever
QS-d 1000.
My question is, Do I need a quad amp like a Qrx to realise the potential of the Qsd 1000.
Thanks in advance
Steve

Welcome.

You don't really need what is known as a quad amplifier but you DO need four amplifiers - one to drive each speaker. Whether it's in the form of a quad amplifier, two stereo amplifiers, or four mono amplifiers doesn't matter. As long as you have a way of amplifying each channel for its associated speaker.

Doug, thanks for your answer.
I do have another stereo amp that I could use.
So would I connect as follows.
Turntable to Qsd to both amps to four speakers?
Is it that easy?
Steve

Yes. Pretty much. Quad is just two additional channels. The QSD1000 provides four source channels and then you just amplify them and send to the speakers.
