I don't have a DVD-Audio player so I rely on the Dolby Digital tracks of the DVD-Audios I buy and haven't had any complaints, until this one. The stereo track sounds fine (good considering it's age even) but the 5.1 track is pretty much unlistenable for me, and it doesn't sound like a bad tape source, it just sounds like it was upsampled from a really low sampling rate, it reminds me of one of those really low bitrate RealAudio streams.
It used to be that you needed a DVD-Audio player to access the extras on discs, bonus video content, etc. Now it seems that that stuff is available to all players. Is a poor quality Dolby 5.1 track the new punishment for those who don't have DVD-Audio players?
Dave.
