There's a number of 3-channel recordings that have been released (typically on SACD) over the years. In my experience, the most well known upmixers -- Dolby Pro Logic II flavors and their replacement DSU; DTS flavors -- don't upmix 3.0 sources to 5.1 (or higher). Have others here found differently? I'd like to be able to do it.
I'm not even sure how such an upmix would work. Would the two rear channels be derived purely from L/R?
