I believe they were also experimenting with QS as well. Philips, DGG, and Polydor released quad in Japan, mostly in CD-4.

The only quad release from Bell Records before they morphed into Arista and went CD-4. The liner notes even mention the arrangements are a bit unusual.
Are y'all getting this one from sellers in Japan? I can't find the SQ LP anywhere at the min..
It was an American release. I don't know if it was every distributed in other countries, but this is definitely a domestic release.
I had seen various pressings at ridiculous prices, then I spotted the German pressing, 47 Euros inc. P&P

After only a very brief play before its packed away (I'm moving soon) simply stunning.
I tried it out with some round the room things (Chase - "Open Up Wide", Miracles - Footsteps intro to "Spy For Brotherhood", O'Jays - "For The Love Of Money") and they all panned around from speaker to speaker flawlessly.. oh and there's a bit where the girl singers go "Johnnie" and it pans "Johnnie-Johnnie-Johnnie" from front to back in Johnnie Taylor's "Running Out Of Lies", I don't know if its supposed to actually do that in the Quad mix but the effect was very very cool
I'm planning a Quad holiday in October so I can really play the living daylights out of those old SQ records.. so far very impressed..!!!
