Yellowjackets - Time Squared

For you fans of Yellowjackets brand of jazz, this is a reference recording just like most of the other discs put out by Heads Up. The surrounds are used more for a wrap around type of effect instead of discretly. The music is great and as I said the sonics are just about as perfect as anything out there. I would give it a 98 out of 100 if I was measuring it on music and sonics combined. Hell, let's give it 100. I can't see how it would be improved.

I second that motion! Time Squared is a great disc, as is their newer SACD Altered State, which has a similar surround mix - subtle, but clearly adds to the listening experience. The sonics are also top notch on this one as well. If you like Spyro Gyra, Hiroshima, or David Sanborn, you should like the Yellowjackets as well. I think they are a cut above these other bands.
